As I browse through the various social media sites out there (mainly Facebook), I can’t help but notice I am inundated with ads about these “so-called” miracle supplement combos. You know you’ve seen them. They usually start with headlines such as “2 Step Supplement Stack Boosts Muscle 700% – But Should It Be Banned?”, or “Weird Trick To Build Muscle”. The latest combo that I saw talked about a Pre-workout booster called 1285 Muscle, which can be combined with any number of other supplements like Hyper fuel 9x, Trig X2 (the most popular I’ve seen), and many others.

Instead of just trying to “guess” whether or not 1285 Muscle actually works, I decided to go out on a limb and try it out myself. While I didn’t stack it with any of the other supplements that I mentioned, I did take it for about 3 weeks and wanted to share my results here. First off, let’s talk a little bit about the supplements facts, and the hidden truth behind it!

What is 1285 Muscle?

1285 muscle reviewsDesigned and marketed as a “pre-workout nitric oxide booster”, 1285 muscle is designed to be taken daily and combined with a healthy dose of good old fashioned exercise for the best results. For those of you who are not already aware, Nitric oxide is actually a gas that’s naturally produced in the body, and is responsible for affecting the release of hormones and adrenaline (source: mensfitness.com)

The principle actuator of nitric oxide via supplementation is through the use of an all natural ingredient called L-Arginine, a clinically tested amino acid with potential for increased heart benefits. 1285 Muscle actually combines L-Arginine with several other ingredients, notably L-Citrulline, CoQ10, L-Taurine, L-Norvaline, Vitamin C, and Calcium.

1285 FAQ’s

How do I take 1285 muscle?

We cannot find any information about the recommended daily dosage, but we do know that should be taken daily.

Where can I buy it?

The only place you can buy 1285 muscle is on their official website.

We searched supplement stores like GNC, vitamin Shoppe, and Walmart and could not find it for sale, neither on their website nor in retail stores.

Also, it only appears to be sold in the United States and Canada.

Any warnings or side effects from 1285 muscle?

We do know that it’s not intended for persons under the age of 18, and that you shouldn’t use if you’re pregnant or nursing.

We always recommend that you speak with a physician prior to taking any supplements.

How do I cancel my trial of 1285 muscle?

In order to cancel, you have to call their customer service line at 800-780-2887. They will provide you with return instructions.

Is it safe to take?

Based on the ingredients list, it appears to be safe to take 1285 muscle, and there are no obvious health risks.

That being said, it is best to check with your doctor and to start off with the lowest possible dosage.

Any Other Guys Out There Getting Huge Results?

I looked around on a wide variety of forums like Bodybuilding.com and menshealth.com, and didn’t see anyone talking about using this supplement for great results. What’s interesting to note is that I found a couple of supposed “reviews” of 1285 muscle on Youtube that are clearly a paid endorsement. Check them out below:

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxHn4dSllXQ]

Now, I’ve seen this “personal trainer” boasting about other supplements like NO2 Maximus, and he personally vouches for each of them. What you probably didn’t know if that this guy is a member of a website called Fiverr, where there’s others like him that will make a video review of practically any product for as little as $5!! Don’t believe me? Check out the image below…

fake no2 maximus review

Food for thought….here’s another one…

http://youtu.be/VtQvT8dOPdg

and then…

fake review 3

These guys didn’t use 1285 muscle….they were clearly paid (very little apparently) to “pretend” that they did.

Should I take 1285 muscle with other products like Trig X2, ripped muscle x, and optimal stack?

Personally, I don’t think it makes much of a difference. All of the above mentioned products are pretty much the same thing and are geared towards the same end result.

Was this product really seen on men’s health?

No.

It was featured in it and news advertorial on a website that mimics the men’s health website.

It is in no way associated with men’s health, Maxim, Playboy, or any other news organization.

My Results With 1285 Muscle

I ordered my “free trial” of 1285 muscle on a Thursday and got it the following Monday. I started taking it the next morning, on a 2 capsule a day schedule. To make the test as legit as possible, I weighed myself that morning and came in at around 197 pounds, which is about 10 pounds more than I would like to be. I also didn’t change my workout routine up so as to not skew the results. I just wanted to see if 1285 muscle made any difference on its own.

After about a week I was beginning to think I was taking a sugar pill….I felt practically no change in my weight lifting or cardio regiment. I brushed it off at first, thinking it would take some time for the ingredients to “build up” in my system. After the 2nd week ended I was reasonably sure that this supplement was worthless, and I hadn’t lost a pound. Then, one day I was logging into my online bank account and noticed that I had been charged $89.99. Furious I called the company up and asked them about it.

I ended up getting through after a brief hold and asked them about that charges, to which they replied that I entered into some sort of contract with them to receive the supplements. I told them that the ad I saw talking about 1285 muscle was saying they were giving away free samples of the product, and they told me it was actually a free trial, and that’s why I was billed for it. After being given the run around for about 15 minutes stating that I agreed to their terms and conditions, I gave up and just told them not to send me anything else.

The FTC has a pretty good video of this “deceptive marketing” practice, check it out here.

Pro’s

  • Contains L-Arginine and other essential amino acids

Con’s

  • Auto charged after 14 days as much as $90!
  • No clear cut refund policy
  • No doctor recommendations
  • Not sold in stores like GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, Walmart, etc.
  • Didn’t work for me

Recommendation

Run. As fast as you can. Not only did this supplement not work, but I ended up getting charged almost $90 for something I probably could have found in my local grocery store for about 1/10th of the price. 1285 Muscle is a scam, and their affiliates deliberately try to coax you into buying there supplement by stating things like “The Rock” and “Ryan Reynolds” use 1285 muscle to get all jacked up. What they don’t make crystal clear is the fact that you’ll be charged an arm and a leg if you don’t cancel your trial order.

On top of that, I later learned that they have been enrolling unsuspecting victims into what’s known as an “auto-shipment / auto-rebill” program that faithfully sends you a new bottle of their supplement every month, and charges your credit card $90 every month! If 1285 muscle really worked as well as they said it did I “might” have considered sticking with it. But based on my results and the reviews I’ve been getting from other guys, it looks to me like it’s just a waste of money. Not to mention, there are dozens of other products out there that actually DO WORK, and won’t rip you off!

That is not only totally morally wrong, but it is also a great way to make a company look more like a criminal organization and prevent people from ever having faith in them again.

Auto rebill schemes happen all the time and unfortunately, as long as the internet is around and people are out there looking to buy products to increase their muscle gains, there will always be a new company to try and pull that same old scheme; don’t fall for it.

1285 Muscle and XMR

By Derek Petty,  May 20, 2014

This is a huge scam! I bought one of each on the "trial" and then get charged $89 and $99 because it is a 14 day trial and if you don't send products back you get charged the full amount and they will send you more products and those outrageous prices.  I called 1285 to complain and I was offered to pay half price or send them back for a refund minus a $15 restocking fee. The lady from 1285 helped cancel the XMR too!  I wish I could give a negative rating!!!

Buyer Beware

By Michael Harvey,  Jun 9, 2014

I saw ad for there product ..a trail of there product for $4.99..unaware that it was a fourteen day trial (wasnt told this)...I received another bottle for unknown reasons to me. After checking my credit card..I had been charged not only the original $4.99 but was also charged $89.99 after 14b days.  Then i was charged again for $99.98. I called 1285 Muscle and was told i agreed to all of this.  I tried talking to them and was told that I obviously didnt know anything about my own finances. They refused to help and put all the dispute on my shoulders as being my fault not theirs.  Do not do business with this company.. Product is a fraud and 1285 Muscle is a scam.  I only rate them a 0ne star because I have to so I can submit this review.

William's Review

By William,  Jul 17, 2015

I took one before MMA training. I have little tolerance to anything and don't drink or use caffeine.  I got a bit of a buzz maybe endorphins, turned around on my way to MMAs and went back home to my wife. It upped my mood maybe a bit, upped my sexual stamina and didn't make me feel bad like others have.  I dunno how it will be in a workout we ll see 🙂

I found this gave me a boost, but not much else. It wasn't until I added it to my stack for some extra aminos pre-workout did I notice a boost of strength and upped weights faster.  But for the price you can buy great BCAAs and a Nitric Booster.

It's just really expensive when you can get two products the same price with much more effect.

    1. Hey Ron,

I haven’t checked that one out. Let me know what benefits you’re interested in, and I’ll make a couple great recommendations for you.

      1. Hello Rob, I am a 70 year old male and have trouble staying hard during sex and looking for a supplement to help.
  1. Rob, I am 5’8 132 pounds and skinny but I was trying to find a supplement that would just put on a lot of muscle quick any suggestions
    1. Hey Ernie,

Since diet and exercise are the biggest part of any plan to gain muscle weight, sign up for my free “getting strong” ebook. It’s loaded with meal and workout plans as well as great tips and advice. As for supplements, your best bet is the Crazy Mass Bulking Stack.

      Rob

  2. I too bought the 1285 Muscle and XRM with the knowledge that it was only $4.99 for each trial item. No where did it say on the trial page that I would be charged anything over $4.99 for each item after 14 days when I was entering my shipping and payment information.

I was later informed this information was on their website – hidden from myself and other customers. To me this is a scam.

The product ordering page should clearly state this information so that consumers can be informed of their purchases. Had this been stated under no circumstance would I have ordered this item without trying it for a month.

Secondly, I only received one bottle – the 1285 Muscle and not the XRM, yet it has been more then 14 days since my order. I would love to return both bottles. Third, tomorrow I am going to my bank to dispute the credit card charge.

    1. Hey Nilsa,

1285 Muscle does have a free trial. You’d have to go to their website to order it.

Just make sure you read the fine print of the terms and conditions so you know how to avoid future charges.
      Rob

  3. Any company that gives a free trial and then charges you before you receive the product are a bunch of scam artists! Trying to give me 25% then 50% off I knew it was just a bunch of phoney a*&^oles.

    Please do not do this.
  4. Hey I ordered up a free a sample like mentioned in these ads only to be similarly charged. When I called and got the run around similarly to what was mentioned above I informed them that unless all my money was returned to my visa then I would ask Visa’s fraud department to investigate… Needless to say I had my funds returned in moments.

How this helps others who were shipped the “free” samples

    JB

  5. Could argue that you are just using this blog as promotion for your own scam, as it only gives negative of competitor product to the ones you promote. Just a thought ……

    1. Hey there,

I appreciate your skepticism. There are lots of scams out there for sure.

I started this website because I’m passionate about working out and staying in the best shape possible, and I saw a need for a service like this. I have personally researched and tried every product I have an affiliate relationship with, and only recommend products that work.

But I have to say, you must not have read many of our reviews because we’ve posted tons of favorable reviews for products I don’t have a relationship with.
      Rob
      SupplementCritique.com

  6. I saw ad for both the 1285 Muscle and XRM products. Free trial plus shipping and thought it was worth a shot.

There are a lot of hidden fees and terms with these products so beware! First of all I unaware that it was a fourteen day trial (wasn’t told this up front).

I only knew this because, in additional to the $4.99 shipping charges, I saw two $89.99 charges on my credit card after the trial period. I’m assuming this is for the two original bottles as I never received any additional bottles.

I called 1285 Muscle and was told i agreed to all of this (thanks to fine print and poor customer service). After calling them they agreed to give me a refund within two weeks, which was a fight in itself.

Three weeks later still no refund. Had to call them again and finally got someone who didn’t seem to care and issued me a refund.

A few days later a refund showed up on my credit card but it was only for $74.99. More hidden fees … there is a $15.00 restocking fee for each bottle!

Ridiculous. Do not do business with this company..

Product is a fraud and 1285 Muscle is a scam. I only rate them a one star because I can’t give them a ZERO.

  7. Stay far away from this product. I was scammed out of over $500 they will not give me my money back and will not take the two bottles they sent me back

  8. Hello Rob,

I’m a 6′ – 148 lb skinny dude. Everywhere I look everything is geared towards guys who want to “lose” weight and pack on muscle.

Nowhere have I been able to find info for skinny guys like me who don’t need to lose weight and just want to build muscle. Why do the skinny guys who have a hard time building muscle always get left out and made to feel like there is no help or hope to build the beach bodies we always dream about?

Is there any info you can share with me please?

    1. Hey Brad,

I actually have a lot of advice for your, and I’m almost done writing an ebook for guys in exactly your situation. If you can hold on a couple weeks, I’ve put you on the list of the first to receive it when it’s completed.

In the meantime check out a product called the Crazy Mass Bulking Stack. It combines 4 powerful supplements that will help skinny guys in your position bulk up very quickly.

      Rob

  9. I canceled my order today. If it was a free trial, why do they want us to send their product back?

Now I have to spend more money for postal. Watch out cause they will try to extend u 14 days and charge your card right away.

    Very disappointed!!!
  10. Hi Rob, I found your site when searchign for reviews of 1285 Muscle. My thoughts about 1285 were confirmed after reading a few of the reviews.

I found your site interesting given you provide some high level thoughts, and I have ordered your ebook. I am waiting for the email to arrive so I can activate my subscription.

In the meantime, can you provide me some supplement and exercise advice?
I am 53, 5’9″, and weigh 192.4. I have hovered around 192 for the past 11 days, dipping once to 189.8. My history.2005: Body for life, and lost about 45 lbs over 6 months; life & stress took over and gained it back; in 2008 started to run, and 2009 the running took off (found that runners high – amazing): 35 – 40 miles per week, no weight lifting, lost 50 lbs; cold weather came on, major stress reduction so incentive to run as much decreased, and..over 2.5 years gained it all back; ugh..Funny how stress can be both positive or negative. Now, started running again in Jan 2014, stopped in March due to shoe & leg issues, started again mid May, now up to 18 – 25 miles per week, with goal to get back to 35 – 40 by end of Sep 2014. Running 6 miles per run, speed all over the place during the run, dropping off severly about 2 – 2.5 miles, picking up slightly at about 4 – 5 miles. I have been doing 90 – 120 pushups, 60 – 90 situps, 30 squats in 1 minute with just body weight, up down, up down, and 1 min plank, on elbows and toes, 5 days /week, since early June 2014. For the past week I have been doing 10 reps of 45 lbs incline bench, 6 reps of 45 lb bicep curl (both arms), and 10 squats with the 45 lbs. I have dropped 22 lbs since January 7, 2014 but weight has plateaued the past 10 days or so at 192-ish. Reading your comments you recommend your ebook, which I ordered and just confirmed the link, and you often recommend the following supplements: Nitrocut; Phen 375; Muscle Advance Creatine; HyperGH 14x; Crazymass Cutting Stack; Testo Fuel, and 100% Whey GNC Gold Standard. I currently take 50 – 75 grams of GNC Pro Performance 100% Whey per day and my calorie intake is about 1,600 – 1,800 per day of chicken, broccolli, veggie burgers, bananas, apples, strawberries, blueberries, Egg Beaters, cheddar cheese, low carb yogurt, and P-28 wraps or bagels, cream cheese or P-28 spread, red or green bell peppers, crushed red peppers, and ground flaxseed meal.

What are your thoughts for me to get down to the mid 1560’s, and lose another 35-40 lbs? A long-term stretch goal of 2 – 3 years out is to compete in a male fitness model competition.

Additionally, my job drug tests me monthly so products with hemp, etc is out of the question. I can take most all supplements offered at GNC.

    Thanks.
    1. Hey Andrew,

I know how easy it can be to seesaw like that, so don’t be too hard on yourself. Sounds like things are on the upswing and that’s great. I would say follow the plan for diet and exercise in the book, and as for supplements, definitely go with Nitrocut as your pre workout. In my opinion, you can’t beat it. Stick with your proteins, and stack in some Testofuel. You’ll find it helps a ton with energy throughout they day, and just helping you lean out and feel better overall. Go through the book when you get a chance, and let me know if you have any more questions.

  13. Hey Rob, I’m almost 31 and weigh 165lbs. I want to ask if you could recommend something for me to get some more muscle then get toned.
  14. For all the “Just pay shipping” offers nowadays; get a pre-paid Visa card with $25 – $50 on it…saves a ton of headaches later…
    1. Read the term and services. Go in the section Legal and you will see it’s bullshit.

Think of it like a way to learn own not to be bullshitted anymore. You learn a life lesson for 90$ and you will save a lot of money thereafter 🙂

  15. hey rob. i’m 5 foot 10 and weigh 140 pounds. i’m tryting to bulk up. was going to get the free trail to 1285 muscle and xtreme recovery until i read this. any tips on good supplements to help me bulk up? i have an over active metabolism and am a mover so lifting isn’t an issue. any help would be great. thanks
    1. Hey Mark,

Gaining is really tough for some guys, but I have a few tips for you. First of all, eat a lot of good clean foods. Get lots of complex carbs in the morning and plenty of protein throughout the day. A good rule of thumb when you’re trying to gain is 1.5 grams per day for every pound of your body weight. When you work out, lift heavy and limit your cardio. As for supplements, a great product for you would be the Crazy Mass Bulking Stack. It combines 4 powerful supplements that can help you gain mass and strength quickly.

Alternatively, you can take Nitrocut as your preworkout. It has no stimulants so it won’t speed up your metabolism or suppress your appetite. Use Muscle Advance Creatine to get your muscles working at max capacity so you really see results from your lifting. And take 100% Whey Gold Standard to help you get enough protein and improve your post workout recovery. You should also sign up for my free “getting ripped” ebook for great workout tips.

  16. Rob,
I’m 48 6’1 205 any chance of me building more muscle at my age? Any products you would recommend or is it over for me?

    1. Hey Rusty,
All hope is definitely not gone. First, sign up for my free “getting ripped” ebook for tons of tips and advice about eating right and working out to get in your best shape. As for supplements, go with a stack of the pre workout Nitrocut with Testofuel, a natural testosterone booster that will boost energy and help increase your ratio of lean muscle mass to fat. You can do this, Rusty. It’s definitely not too late.

  17. I’ve been using test booster, “P6 Extreme” ,stacked with “P6 Extreme Black”. My preworkout is “C4 Extreeme” and I take a daily vitamin “Mega Men, AMP”. In between meals, I also consume “CytoCarb” 3 times per week.

After every workout I intake 30 grams of “Platinum Hydro Builder” protein. And in the middle of the night I drink “Gold Standard” casin protein.

My workout routine is times per week, I work every muscle group, including abs and LEGS! Research proves that working the legs will help increase growth endorphins.

I was 165 pounds when I started this regimen. That was 2 and 1/2 years ago. I weigh a solid 210 pounds now at 5′-10inches.

    Note, I’m 39 years old.
  18. Hey Rob,
I’m currently 5’7″ and 200 lbs. I’m short and stocky. Muscle and weight gain have never been my problem.

Looking to lean up. Wondering what types of supplements I should take to increase metabolism and loose weight.

Currently switching to more of a cardio style work-out. Hopefully you have some suggestions regarding supplements, thanks.
    Anthony

    1. Hey Anthony,

Go with a stack of a pre workout called Nitrocut and a fat burner called Phen375. You should also download my free “getting ripped” ebook for lots of advice on eating right and working out. I know you say you’re focusing on cardio, but I’m sure you’ll find lots of value in the book.

  19. So I read an article on Men’s Life & Health this morning (never heard of it but I know Men’s Health) and they raved about testing and actually getting results from stacking 1285 and XMR. Seemed interesting and for $6 for 2 free trials, I was just going to cancel as soon as receiving them and give them a shot.

Before pulling the trigger I decided to read some stuff online and since I’m at work, got busy. Well who calls me?

Someone from 1285 muscle saying he was informed I was on the site but didn’t complete the trial order (I put in my info up to the credit card page). He kept talking over me and wouldn’t let me speak.

At the end I said there was interest and if I decided to move forward, I’d just do it online. He said since he’s the supplier, he had a promo code for additional bottles at $39.99 instead of $79,99 (site said $89.99).

When I said I wanted to look into it more and would do it online he replied with “well if you’d rather spend $80/bottle instead of $40/bottle then good luck with you”. I was going to move forward but after that call it’s got sketchy written all over it.

    I’ll look for difference options.

I’m 5″8′ and 160lbs. I was 205lbs 2.5 years ago, lost 60lbs and was down to 145lbs, best I’ve ever looked. Want to get back there and add some muscle, just looking to get rid of fat and add some muscle.

I workout 5x a week and eat healthy (although haven’t been as strict the past 6mos leading to gaining 15lbs, I’ve gotten clean again though). What would you recommend?

    Thanks

    1. Hey Garrett,
Yeah, shady is definitely the right word. The first thing I’ll recommend is that you download my free “getting ripped” ebook. It’s full of workout and meal advice to help you get where you want to be and I’ve recently added some bonuses to help you stay on track. As for supplements, go with Nitrocut as your pre workout and stack it with HyperGH 14X. It’s an HGH releaser that can really help you get lean and chiseled.

  21. Hey I was really curious about this supplement and wanted to try it . Seeing how it has so many negative Reviews I was wondering which supplements would you recommend for a similar result as they claimed these products would have.

Im 18 years old 6’7 and 500 lbs. What would you advise to take with regularly workouts. Thanks

    1. Hey Austin,
Yeah I personally didn’t get any results with 1285 muscle, and as you can see from the reviews it’s unlikely to work. Check out a stack of a pre workout supplement called Nitrocut and a fat burner called Phen375. They work very effectively when combined, and be sure to sign up for my free “Get Ripped” ebook for great tips on diet and exercise you can use in conjunction with the supplements. Here are my reviews:

  22. Dear Rob,
I really need help. I’m 5’11-183 lbs. I have a fairly muscular build but I still definitely have some chub.

I’m 17 and participate in lots of sports, primarily track and football. What supplements would you recommend to help bulk up for football but also lose weight?

Also, my credit card company has lots of issues with potential “scam” websites, so I need supplements that I can get in common retail stores like Walgreen’s, Walmart, etc.
    1. Hey Scott,
You can’t really bulk up and lose weight at the same time. At your age and with your activity level, diet and exercise should keep the chub in check. Download my free “get ripped” ebook for all sorts of information on that. As for supplements, go with Creatine and Protein. You can get both at GNC. I’d go with 100% Whey Gold Standard from Optimum Nutrition.

  23. this is bull sh its a big money scam I also read free canceled the day I got it due to health reasons they tried to give me 50% off to keep it then I had to go through all sorts of crap to send it back so I ended up losing about 25.00 and got nothing head for the hills when you see this ad. should be illegal
  24. this product does not work. they stole my money after saying that it would only cost me a few dollars when in fact in cost me over three hundred and they didn’t even ask me. they just took the three hundred dollars right out of my account.
  25. This is a scam product people. This company stole my photos for one of their major adverts and made up a totally faked story as if I told it to promote their product.

The bottom line is, they try to prove a unprovable point (by stealing photos and make up fake stories)…that this product does NOT work.

  26. I called the day I got it to cancel and had a similar situation, they send 30 days worth right off the bat, but there was a promo going on so I paid for the full bottle 39 bucks and cancelled it right away, plus the girl on the phone was a college girl from like Florida or California or something and was very pleasant towards me. All in all it was a decent experience but we’ll see about the results part.

  27. I never order anything!!! I decided to try this and got burned.

I called in to cancel my contract and they extended me anouther 14 days
and then charged the 89.99!!!I now have to send back the unused portion to get a refund!!!It did nothing, and its so unfair to have to spend money on the return postage.
