Progene Overview

Did you know that men lose approximately 1% of their body’s testosterone every year beginning as early as 20-30 years old?

And age is not the only thing that can reduce testosterone levels. Stress, depression, and even poor sleep also impedes the body’s ability to produce testosterone, a hormone that not only effects sexual performance but also contributes to strength, motivation, mental clarity, and stamina.

As dipping testosterone levels create special challenges for many men, it is natural to seek a product that will help you feel more like your old self again.

Progene is an all-natural supplement that claims it can enhance your sexual function and improve your physical and emotional well being.

Today we’re gonna dig into this t-booster pill to find out what it’s all about, and if it’s right for you.

What is Progene?

Progene is a male testosterone support supplement
Image: progene.com

Testosterone is an incredibly important hormone for men. It influences a range of body functions, like mood and outlook, metabolism, energy levels, maintenance of muscle mass, etc.

But by the age of 45, many men will have lost 25-50% of their testosterone.

At age 50, well, it’s pretty much downhill as far as testosterone goes.

low testosterone and body composition

And, according to the makers of the product, “testosterone defines you as a man.” While I wouldn’t go that far, I do know that this hormone is vital for feeling up to task, both in the bedroom and in life.

So we turn to t-boosters like Progene testosterone support and others.

RELATED:How to Boost Testosterone Naturally

Progene has been on the scene for a long time… 15 years to be exact.

Progene has been helping men with low-testosterone, or low-t, since 2003
Image: progene.com

And they’ve positioned themselves as a “Powerful natural solution to this natural problem.”

They say their product is recommended by both doctor’s and pharmacists as an alternative to expensive prescription t-boosters.

But I wasn’t able to find any information or studies cited on their website to back these claims.

Progene – Its Ingredients and How it Works

Erectify Ultra has all natural ingredients

When you visit the user friendly official Progene website, you’ll find a variety of information about the supplement.

There’s a complete ingredients list and many of the ingredients included are popular and proven enhancement botanicals.

For instance, Progene contains Tribulus terrestris, known to encourage testosterone production, and L-Arginine and DHEA, both testosterone precursors.

I’ll cover these ingredients in-depth in just a bit, but first we’ll have a look at the herbal portion of the formula.

progene review

The Progene formula includes ingredients from around the world, including:

  • Three varieties of ginseng, an herb that is known to increase testosterone and improve libido. (Source /Source)
  • Long jack, orEurycoma Longifolia, has been thought to help with low-t, but studies have found it to be ineffective at best, and potentially carcinogenic at worst. (Source)
  • Saw Palmetto berry has been found to improves sex drive, increase testosterone, and even help prevent prostate cancer in men. (Source)
  • Jamaican ginger root is a natural herb that helps men who suffer with erectile dysfunction (ED). (Source)
  • Lycopine is naturally found in tomatoes and is thought to improve sexual health in men. (Source)
  • and oat straw extract, also known as Avena Sativa, is found in many nootropics and helps to improve brain health and boost energy. (Source)

Also, there are a number of minerals included, and it has Vitamins A, E, and B12.

What isn’t included in Progene is yohimbe extract.

yohimbe bark tree

Yohimbe is found in many male supplement formulas, but the FDA has issued warnings against its use, particularly by men with a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes. (Source)

You can thank your lucky stars that Yohimbe isn’t found in Progene… I know from personal experience that this ingredient can mess you up big time.

Before we jump into the user reviews for Progene, I want to circle back to a few key ingredients I briefly mentioned earlier: Tribulus terrestris, L-Arginine, and DHEA.

These ingredients are found in many testosterone support supplements, and for good reason.

In many ways, they are staples that tie together numerous male enhancement supplements and in my own experience, they often times give me the heads up in advance that they seem like they are going to work well.

Tribulus terrestris

For a long time now, Tribulus terrestris has been a go-to natural remedy for low libido and low energy, and to enhance athletic performance.

This ingredient is found in most t-boosters.

In fact, I’ve tried dozens of testosterone supplements, and I’ve found Tribulus in over 70% of them!

Because it works.

supplements ive tested and evaluated

Well, it works as an aphrodisiac (believe me, I know)… but the science is still out on how effective it is at improving lean body mass, supporting weight loss, and improving athletic performance. (Source)

L-Arginine

While many think L-Arginine helps athletes maximize performance, the studies just don’t support this.

However, this amino acid goes the distance to help with ED and give you the erection you’ve always dreamed of.

L-Arginine, an ingredient found in Progene, is a vasodilator and helps with erections

It acts as a vasodilator, opening up the blood vessels in the penis, allowing the blood to flow like the salmon of Capistrano, and thereby (potentially) improving your erections and sex life all-around. (Source)

It looks…

how l arginine works to produce nitric oxide

Finally, we’ve got DHEA.

DHEA

What does DHEA do for a man?

Let’s just ask the fine folks at WebMD

DHEA is a main ingredient in Progene and is a precursor for testosterone in men

Much like L-Arginine, Progene includes this ingredient in their formula as a precursor for testosterone.

And it’s true that “DHEA supplements can increase the level of [estrogen and testosterone] hormones.” (Source)

According to Everyday Health, however, this steroid hormone that the body converts into a sex hormone can be quite dangerous.

In fact, it made their list of 7 Supplements Guys Should Never Take. But it’s worth noting that I’ve taken lots of DHEA with no problem yet.

Progene User Reviews

The product is sold on Amazon.com, so you can find user reviews there.

But my spidey senses tell me that many of these are fake reviews… so I won’t go too much into them here.

Progene User reviews on Amazon
Image: https://www.amazon.com

The 5-star reviews are too short and sweet to be real (in my opinion).

Here is a positive 5-star review for Progene testosterone support supplement

In my years of doing this, I’ve found that happy customers want to talk about their positive experience with a product.

On the other hand, the 1-star reviews are pretty telling…

1-star Progene testosterone booster review

And then there’s this guy, who’s ALL-CAPS PISSED THAT THE PRODUCT IS NOT RETURNABLE!!!

1-star Progene testosterone booster review

Finally, the Progene website has a whole page dedicated to customer testimonials.

But this never gives a clear picture of the quality and effectiveness of a product.

Of course, each and every one of these testimonials is absolutely glowing.

So take ’em with a grain of salt.

Progene Complaints

So there are quite a few pissed off Progene customers.

In fact, they’ve galvanized, joined forces, and started a website called…

www.progene.pissedconsumer.com.

And I’ve officially seen it all. 😉

There are lots of Progene complaints

As far as I can tell, there seems to be a scam where the company offers a free 30-day trial of their testosterone test kit and product, only to slowly bilk you of $200!

There seems to be a Progene free trial scam that is taking the money of their customers

You’ll find a handful of similar complaints on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website. All this to say… buyer beware!

Especially of the Progene testosterone test kit!

Progene vs. Nugenix

nugenix original at gnc

There’s another t-booster on the scene that actually delivers real results. It’s called Nugenix.

If you want a detailed run-down of it, I personally tested and reviewed the supplement here: Nugenix Review –Is It a Reliable Testosterone Booster?

But I want to briefly highlight the main differences between Progene and Nugenix.

First off, Nugenix contains an ingredient called Testofen, which unfortunately is not found in Progene.

fenugreek seeds - testofen extract

Testofen is a patented form of Fenugreek extract, and is shown to double free testosterone levels, while simultaneously helping to improve muscle-building (while exercising). (Source) Researchers have also found Testofen to be helpful to improve libido, sexual performance, and sexual satisfaction.

That’s the main difference between the two formulas, but it’s a BIG difference.

nugenix label

When I tried Nugenix over the course of several weeks, I felt a noticeable difference in everything from sex drive, erection quality, energy, stamina, you name it.

I even lost 12 pounds taking the Nugenix supplement.

It was fast-acting, came with very few side effects, and kept me energized throughout the day, every day.

What can I say?

The stuff just straight up worked for me.

The price is right at $70 per bottle, which is the same price as Progene.Only with Nugenix you don’t have to wonder if you’ll be scammed out of your money.

Food for thought.

Nugenix Maxx Testoterone Differences

All in all, Nugenix is by far a better formula and your best option if you’re looking to increase your testosterone, libido, and overall energy.

Progene FAQ’s

How do I take it?

The manufacturer’s recommended dosage of Progene is two tablets a day for average-size men, and three tablets for larger males.

It is suggested that the pills be taken on a full stomach in the morning.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects you might experience from taking Progene include:

  • Mild hair loss
  • Lightheadedness
  • Headaches
  • Upset stomach

Also, because of the DHEA, users might experience high blood pressure and acne, along with other symptoms. (Source)

Despite what the label says, Titanium 4000 might give you a headache as a side effect
Image: menshealth.com

Most users will not experience any side effects.

Is it safe to take?

The makers of Progene do list a few warnings concerning the use of testosterone boosting supplements, including acne, hair loss, hair growth on the face (isn’t that normal anyway?), aggressiveness, and irritability.

They also mention that if you’re an athlete who competes in professional sports or the NCAA that you DO NOT use their product.

The reason behind this is that the DHEA is a banned supplement in professional and collegiate level sports.

You can find detailed information about the DHEA ban straight from the Anti-Doping Agency website.

How can I expect to feel?

Progene is not the best option for a testosterone boost
Image: pickthebrain.com

OK — you probably won’t feel as good as that guy…

Individual results may very, but the website says during the first four weeks of taking Progene you should begin to feel more energetic and notice an increased interest in sex.

The next four weeks bring about a faster metabolism rate, improved focus, and shortened arousal time.

After two months you should experience optimal results.

Where can you buy Progene?

Progene is available at the official website, andis also available at GNC retail stores nationwide.

gnc by my house

You’ll also find the product on the shelves of Sam’s Club, Sears (is that place still in bizz?!), and online at Amazon.com and other online retailers.

How much is it?

The cost of Progene is $59.95 for the first month, and $69.95 for following months, with discounts available for bulk purchases.

This is a little on the steep end for a t-booster, especially considering it’s spotty past with scamming customers.

Is there a guarantee?

The manufacturer does offer a 90-day money-back guarantee on the product.

Progene offers a 90-day money back guarantee

My Results With Progene

I got a one month supply of Progene from GNC for about $50, and started taking it almost immediately. The box comes with 60 tablets, and the directions state that you should take 2 capsules a day with a meal.

One thing I wanted to note was the capsules are friggin’ huge!

So if you have a hard time swallowing you might want to break them in half or something.

Energy/Focus: I didn’t really feel any kind of increase in energy or focus, however I did feel like I was sleeping a bit better.

Progene doesn’t really contain any “harsh” stimulants, so that leads me to believe that it’s not intended to give you that “pick me up” type of feeling.

I got good sleep while taking Progenic t-booster
Image: mensjournal.com

Mood/Concentration:I have to say I was feeling like my mood had improved just a bit, but it wasn’t anything “life changing.” I just had an overall feel-good type attitude.

I didn’t notice that I had any increase in focus or concentration or anything, but I’m not even sure if it’s intended to have any real effect there anyway.

Performance/Power: My gym sessions were not anything crazy either.

I thought I noticed a slight increase in strength and power, but I certainly didn’t seem to gain any massive results in terms of size or stamina.

Recommendation

We were impressed by the informative website and the ingredients used in this supplement.

It contains many ingredients with known benefits.

Although the high price may keep it out of some consumers hands, Progenedoes seem promising and is backed with a generous 90-day money back guarantee.

However, I based most of my original findings on the research that I did.

Having tried it out, I feel as though there are much better supplements out there that can give you solid results, much better than what you would get with Progene.

I do not recommend Progene for testosterone
Image: inprnt.com

Couple that with the facts that you can’t even use the product if you play at the NCAA level, and the potential of being scammed out of your hard-earned money… and I would say skip it for now.

Avoid scams at all costs because purchasing something over the internet that already does not have the best reputation is not worth risking giving your debit or credit card information away to those that may wind up robbing you blind.
